Suddenly, Jay Cutler is making plays for the Bears on the ground.
Bears Get Second Rushing Touchdown From Jay Cutler, Seahawks End Shutout With Field Goal
Cutler just scrambled for his second rushing touchdown of the day in the third quarter, and put the Bears up 28-0 after the Robbie Gould extra point.
The 14-play, 70-yard scoring drive helped bring the Bears out of a slump that began in the first half. After scoring touchdowns on three of their first four drives, the Bears punted on three of their next four, and saw the fourth end at the whistle for halftime.
But the Bears are now over 100 yards on the ground for the day, and Cutler’s thrown for 210 yards through most of three quarters. That’s balance that wins NFL playoff games, and a far cry better than what the Bears have allowed Seattle to do on defense.
The Seahawks have just 111 yards on 38 plays in the divisional round game.
On the bright side for the Seahawks: Leon Washington just broke a long return that set Seattle up in great position to chip away at the Bears’ lead ... and the resulting drive stalled in the red zone and produced just an Olindo Mare field goal, as Pete Carroll decided to get points rather than try for a touchdown in a game that was 28-0.
So it’s Bears 28, Seahawks 3 at Soldier Field. Seattle didn’t get shut out! Yay!
