The Tennessee Titans announced via Twitter that head coach Jeff Fisher and the team “have agreed to part ways,” helpfully adding that Fisher will no longer coach the team. Whether that means he’s technically fired, is resigning, is retiring, is going on hiatus, hates football, is joining the Not Tennessee Antititans, or whatever, it’s hard to say.
Jeff Fisher Out As Tennessee Titans Head Coach, Team Announces As Bud Adams Declines Comment
Titans owner Bud Adams has shared his thoughts on the matter with The Tennesseean’s Jeff Wyatt, though they are not illuminating:
Where did you hear that? I better check on that. I can’t talk about it now. I really can’t talk about it now because I don’t know what’s been said. I want to see what is going on.
Until today, Fisher was the NFL’s longest-tenured head coach. He also took the team to its only Super Bowl. His mustache supplants Dave Wannstedt’s as the finest football mustache to find itself out of a job this offseason.
