Rex Ryan and the New York Jets will travel to Indianapolis to take on the Colts on Saturday night in the wildcard round of the playoffs. Ryan’s Jets quickly became one of the best defenses in the league when he arrived last year and he got a lot of credit for the Baltimore Ravens defenses in recent years as well. He’s been very good.
2011 NFL Playoffs, Jets Vs. Colts: Rex Ryan Says It’s Personal With Peyton Manning
Except against Peyton Manning. The Colts have owned Ryan’s defenses going 5-1 since 2005 with 12 touchdowns and two interceptions and Ryan calls it personal now.
“I don’t know when I’m going to beat him, but I want it to be Saturday night,” the New York Jets’ coach said Monday, looking ahead to a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game. “Is it personal? Yes, it’s personal. It’s personal against him, Reggie Wayne, all those guys, yeah. (Dwight) Freeney and (Robert) Mathis and those other dudes? Absolutely.”
Ryan has also predicted the Jets will be in the Super Bowl in February so you know he expects to beat Manning. The Colts this year look a lot more beatable than in years past but these Jets also don’t look like the team that made it to the AFC Championship game last year.
