NFL Playoffs, Jets Vs. Colts: Mark Sanchez Interception Keeps Score 7-0 Heading Into Halftime

Mark Sanchez has been perhaps the NFL’s most examined quarterback over the last 16 months. He’s not passing whatever test he’s taking today, at least not so far.

Sanchez drove the Jets into the red zone, then overthrew receivers on three consecutive passes, the last turning into a Justin Tryon interception that erased the Jets’ best chance to score in the first half at Lucas Oil Field.

The Colts didn’t capitalize on the drive — the team called one run and a hysterical “sack” of Manning that involved him curling up in the fetal position as his pocket collapsed couldn’t help them move the ball — but a 7-0 lead seems pretty big when the other quarterback is playing as poorly as Sanchez is.

The bright spot for the Jets through the first half has to be LaDainian Tomlinson. One of the Jets’ many big offseason pickups, Tomlinson has been excellent so far, with seven carries for 49 yards and three catches for eight yards.
