Raiders Give 49ers Permission To Interview Hue Jackson

On Tuesday morning it was reported that the San Francisco 49ers requested permission from the Oakland Raiders to interview offensive coordinator Hue Jackson for their head coaching job. The 49ers fired Mike Singletary this season and have been searching for a GM and a head coach.

By Tuesday afternoon, the Raiders confirmed they had given permission for the interview.

Jackson’s case is an interesting one. He was hired onto the Raiders staff for the 2010 season and, with reports that the Raiders are not expected to bring Tom Cable back, some thought he might be a candidate for the head coaching job.

Al Davis hasn’t announced his decision yet -- he must decide to pick up the option on Cable’s contract in two weeks -- but it’s possible Jackson’s departure changes plans in Oakland.

The 49ers have indicated they’ll hire a GM before a coach and Trent Baalke is believed to be the leading candidate.

SB Nation’s Niners Nation has a complete run down of the 49ers search for a new GM and head coach.
