The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing to face the Baltimore Ravens in the wildcard round of the NFL playoffs and they began their preparation without WR Dwayne Bowe, who missed practice on Wednesday. This is concerning because as Bowe goes, so goes the Chiefs passing offense.
2011 NFL Playoffs, Ravens Vs. Chiefs: Will Dwayne Bowe Play?
It sounds like Bowe just has a stomach bug or something like that and will be available to play for the Chiefs this Sunday against the Ravens. What had people concerned is that, on the day Bowe missed practice, the Chiefs also signed a receiver, Kevin Curtis. The last time a Chiefs player missed practice with an illness, and a player at his position was signed, it was Matt Cassel and an appendectomy.
The Chiefs will hit the practice field on Thursday and we’ll find out if Bowe is there. If he’s not able to play this weekend, then the Chiefs chances of beating the Ravens are reduced dramatically. If he is out there, then the Chiefs are still facing a tough game but it would be more realistic to think they could win.
Bowe lead the NFL in touchdown receptions this year and has been a favorite target of QB Matt Cassel this year. He is a critical part to the Chiefs game plan as they face the Ravens, who are one of the few teams capable of shutting down the Chiefs run game.
