The Chiefs offense is stalling. And the Ravens keep tacking on points.
NFL Playoffs, Ravens Vs. Chiefs: Baltimore Bolsters Lead With Field Goals
After an eventful drive that featured an interception that turned into a fumble recovery for Jamaal Charles and a fourth-down stop by the Ravens, the Chiefs gave Baltimore great field position. And Joe Flacco helped the Ravens capitalize on it, moving them into the red zone before the Chiefs defense forced a field goal try.
The Ravens’ Billy Cundiff hit that field goal, a 29-yarder, to give the Ravens a 13-7 lead in Kansas City.
Then another Chiefs turnover, a Dexter McCluster fumble, lead to a third Cundiff field goal. Things are close to getting out of reach for the Chiefs.
The Chiefs’ inability to do much through the air is becoming a serious problem. Matt Cassel hasn’t thrown to Dwayne Bowe all day, is averaging less than six yards per pass attempt, and was saved from a turnover by Charles’ heads-up play after the interception.
If the Chiefs are going to get back into this one, it will likely take a sustained drive. And though Charles has been running well, a drive will likely require some help from Cassel’s arm.
