For Detroit Lions, It’s More Than Just Monday Night Football

The NFL announced the 2011 schedule several months ago and ever since then, Detroit Lions fans have had one game circled on the calendar -- October 10, Monday Night Football vs. the Chicago Bears. It's the return of Monday Night Football to Detroit for the first time in a decade.

The Lions are 4-0 on the season and currently stand as the story of the 2011 NFL season through the first four weeks of the season. This game is big because it’s a divisional game, and it’s on Monday night, but for Detroit, and what Lions fans have been through in recent years, it’s more than just Monday Night Football.

I’ve been keeping an eye on our Lions blog, Pride of Detroit, because I know what this game means in Detroit.

To some franchises playing on Monday night doesn’t mean anything other than having a game a day later than usual, but for the Lions it’s different. This game has been hyped up so much that ticket prices have been in triple digits essentially ever since the game was announced. Despite this, there could be a bigger crowd than Super Bowl XL at Ford Field. That’s how much fans want to be at the game, and the atmosphere that is expected is one that will rival the glory days of the Silverdome.

If you’re not a Lions or Bears fan, and need helping getting pumped up for this game, I suggest you visit Pride of Detroit. This might be the best Monday Night Football game of the year so far.
