Redskins TE Chris Cooley suffered a finger injury last week and the team announced they’re placing him on injured reserve, ending his season.
Chris Cooley’s Injury Lands Him On IR, Season Is Over
The question becomes now whether Cooley will ever suit up for the Redskins again, as SB Nation DC notes.
Cooley signed a $30 million deal prior to the 2007 season which runs through the 2013 season. He’s due approximately $7.65 million over the next two season so it wouldn’t be unheard of if they released him.

Cooley told reporters after the game that his absence caused the Redskins to tweak their game plan.
Paulsen can expect more practice time in the coming weeks.

Cooley has struggled so far this year after enjoying a career year in 2010. He has just six catches and 66 yards in four games this season. Video of the play in which Cooley was injured is embedded below -- it didn’t look serious, so it’s possible he may be able to return. Cooley has been dinged up quite often this year -- earlier this week, he had his surgically-repaired knee drained, although he downplayed the procedure to reporters.
