Chris Cooley Injury: Finger Surgery Will Keep Redskins TE Out Several Weeks

The Washington Redskins will be without their tight end for several weeks after Chris Cooley suffered a broken index finger in Week 6. The injury will require surgery and it could keep him out up to six weeks, according to a report.

The injury came on Sunday when he caught his first pass of the day and was hit hard by Nnamdi Asomugha bringing him to the ground. Head coach Mike Shanahan confirmed after the game that the injury would require surgery but didn't give a timetable on his return, though it's believed to be about six weeks.

Cooley told reporters after the game that his absence caused the Redskins to tweak their game plan.

“I know our game plan changed quite a bit when I went out of the game,” Cooley said. “We had a two-tight-end package that we practiced a lot and we felt very confident in. And that’s not to say anything bad about Logan [Paulsen] - he just didn’t practice this week, as far as the tight end spot goes.”

Paulsen can expect more practice time in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned to Hogs Haven to see the reaction to the injury in Washington.
