Seattle Seahawks No. 2 quarterback Charlie Whitehurst will get the first-team reps in practice this week, head coach Pete Carroll said during his weekly press conference on Wednesday.
Tarvaris Jackson Injury: Seahawks Giving First Team Snaps To Charlie Whitehurst
Starting quarterback Tarvaris Jackson suffered a strained pectoral muscle during the Seahawks' 36-25 win over the New York Giants in Week 5. Jackson's injury, which is to his right pectoral muscle, occurred during a designed run in the third quarter. Whitehurst replaced Jackson for the rest of the game, completing 11-of-19 pass attempts for 149 yards and a 27-yard touchdown to rookie wide receiver Doug Baldwin to put the Seahawks in the lead with less than three minutes remaining in the game.
Though he's expected to be limited in practice this week, Carroll said that Jackson is able to throw the fooball and has not ruled out the possibility of Jackson starting in Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns, with a decision perhaps not being made until game-time.
