Ronnie Brown Trade Voided: Where Do Eagles, Lions Go From Here?

Ronnie Brown is still with the Philadelphia Eagles and Jerome Harrison remains with the Detroit Lions after a trade deadline deal was voided on Wednesday. The deal was reportedly nullified after something came up during Harrison's physical.

Over at Pride of Detroit, Sean Yuille thinks the voided trade creates an awkward situation, leaving the Lions in a difficult spot moving forward.

This puts the Lions in a tough spot. It's going to be pretty awkward for Harrison to return to a team that tried to trade him, especially considering his health was the reason the deal didn't go through. The Lions wanted to upgrade the running back position by adding Brown, and now they're stuck with an apparently unhealthy Harrison.

If the deal had been voided in advance of the trade deadline, the Lions could have tried to work out a different deal. Since the trade deadline has passed, the Lions are stuck with Maurice Morris, Keiland Williams, Jahvid Best and Harrison as their running backs unless they release one of them and bring in a free agent.

On the other side, Bleeding Green Nation’s Jason Brewer isn’t too worried about the trade and the impact of it being voided.

So that means Ronnie Brown returns to the Eagles and Jerome Harrison goes back to the Lions. So... yeah. It was a minor trade to begin with so reversing it doesn't change a whole lot. Although I'm sure Brown was probably excited to go somewhere he was likely to get a shot to play a little more.

From their reactions, it seems clear the Lions needed Brown as insurance for Jahvid Best, and to shore up the run game, more than Philadelphia needed its return on the deal.
