Tarvaris Jackson Injury: Early Signs Pointing To Charlie Whitehurst As Seahawks Starter

The Seattle Seahawks haven't ruled out Tarvaris Jackson for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns but if practice reps mean anything (and they usually do) the Seahawks are preparing for Charlie Whitehurst to start. Jackson is recovering from a strained pectoral muscle and the early guess on who starts Sunday is Whitehurst.

The Seahawks haven’t ruled Jackson out yet but what teams say during the week doesn’t really matter. Instead what really matters is what they do and throughout the week Whitehurst has been the one getting the reps.

“You definitely like to have practice reps,” Whitehurst said. “So that’s good. Like I said, we’ll see what happens and be ready when called.”

We’ll see what happens in Friday’s practice, and then what the Seahawks list Jackson as. To have a legitimate hope of playing, he would likely need to be listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. Very few players listed as doubtful end up playing in a game.

If Jackson can't go, then Whitehurst will join a growing list of new starters for Week 7 including Tim Tebow, Carson Palmer, John Beck, Christian Ponder and possibly A.J. Feeley.
