The New Orleans Saints seemed like their plan against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football was to get all of the frustration left from last week's upset loss at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They did that and more, one might decide, as Drew Brees and the Saints defended their homefield with a 62-7 victory.
Colts Vs Saints Final Score: Drew Brees Nearly Flawless In New Orleans Win
Brees didn’t even play in the final quarter of play, but those looking at his box score statistics probably wouldn’t believe that as the Saints quarterback completed 31 of his 35 passing attempts for 325 yards and five touchdowns. It wasn’t a perfect quarterback rating, but finishing a game with more touchdown passes than incompletions is never a bad thing.
Brees got the Saints started off solidly as he found wide receiver in the end zone for the first of two touchdown connections with his standout pass-catcher following a Curtis Painter fumble. Colston finished the night with seven receptions for 98 yards and two touchdowns while Jimmy Graham, New Orleans' starting tight end, also finished with a pair of touchdown to go with his six catches and 54 yards.
As far as the Colts were concerned, almost nothing went right. Painter was pulled in the fourth quarter after throwing an awful pick-six and back-up Dan Orlovsky didn't get much of a chance to shine as the Colts were already too far behind on the scoreboard to comeback. Delone Carter did have a decent game, however, as rushed 10 times for 89 yards and the only touchdown for Indianapolis.
The Saints travel to play the St. Louis Rams next week while the Colts visit the Tennessee Titans.
