One of the worst feelings in fantasy football? Having a player go off during a game for a bonanza of points, only to have him safely stashed on your bench for that weekend. Only still winning your matchup can ease the pain. The weekly decisions on start and sit are agonizing, unless your roster is packed with stars. For the rest of us, we could use some advice on who to start and who to sit.
Fantasy Football Week 8 Start ‘Em Or Sit ‘Em: Jackie Battle A Start
Time for that crucial decision each week. Who to start and who to sit. We examine some players in each category for Week 8.
We turned to our friends at numberfire.com to see if they would run the stats and give us some start and sit advice. They look at their projections on players who may not be setting it on fire so far in fantasy, or guys that may be coming back or playing through injury, and see whether their Week 8 matchup has a favorable projection. Below are their 10 starts and 10 sits.
Starts
Jackie Battle has come out of obscurity this year, and is now a decent backup or flex play option in deeper leagues. The Kansas City running back has secured the top running back spot for the Chiefs, and the computer thinks you should play him this week against San Diego. In Cincinnati, the Bengals will be without suspended Cedric Benson, so Bernard Scott is a one week fill-in likely to see plenty of carries. And the absence of Santana Moss in Washington means Jabar Gaffney might be worth starting if you have big needs at wide receiver.
Sit
Kevin Kolb hasn't proven himself yet in Arizona, and against the Baltimore defense this week the expectations are low. Even though Jonathan Stewart has had the hot-hand in Carolina lately, he has a tough matchup with the Vikings run defense in Week 8. As usual, the Colts offensive players, besides Pierre Garcon, should be riding the pine.
