The optimism earlier in the week that Tarvaris Jackson would be able to start Sunday for the Seattle Seahawks has begun to fade. Pro Football Talk reports that head coach Pete Carroll will make a game-time decision on a starter prior to hosting the Cincinnati Bengals.
Tarvaris Jackson Or Charlie Whitehurst? Seahawks Say Game-Time Decision
Last week's starter Charlie Whitehurst has taken most of the first-team snaps in practice this week, giving him an apparent edge. Carroll has said as much, noting that the team is preparing as if Whitehurst will make a second consecutive start for the first time in his career.
The door is still technically open for Jackson to return, however. He suffered a high-grade right pectoral strain against the New York Giants in Week 5 and his been trying to get back ever since. Jackson was able to warm up prior to last week's loss to the Cleveland Browns, and reportedly threw the ball well. Whoever starts will have the added benefit of a healthy Marshawn Lynch back in the lineup.
