Last month, I wrote in this space that Brett Favre would step in the broadcast booth to provide color commentary for a Southern Miss game. Indeed, that happened over the weekend:
VIDEO: Brett Favre Works Color Commentary At Southern Miss Game
Your reaction to this video is one of the following:
- Well, it's nice to see Favre in the spotlight again... even if it isn't what he does best.
- I wonder whether he's got anything left in that arm.
- Hmm. He's fumbling a few of his words... but at least he never fumbled the football.
- Sure, he tripped over his words a time or two, but on the football field, there's only one thing he could have tripped over: his legacy as a LEGEND.
- You know, seeing Favre up there, dressed like an average Joe, without a uniform... it just doesn't seem right.
- I bet he could still head out there and play.
- Ha. You can take the Gunslinger out of the game, but you can't take the game out of the Gunslinger.
- It's nice of his broadcast partner to toss him a few jokes... reminds me of when Favre himself used to toss touchdowns. Why, 508 touchdowns, to be precise!
- Well, he says he's retired... but as opposing NFL defenses learned the hard way, it isn't a good idea to under-estimate the ol' Gunslinger.
- It just hasn't been the same without the ol' Gunslinger.
- It just isn't the same without the ol' Gunslinger on the field.
- It just isn't the same without Favre out there, doing what needs doing, gettin' it done.
- It just won't be the same without the Gunslinger.
- It just isn't the same minus Brett Favre, the Gunslinger.
- If his television career is anything like his football career... look out!
- Looks like he's telling a few jokes. Well, back in the good old days, he'd turn defensive secondaries into a joke.
- I bet Brett Favre could still go out there and show today's ballplayers what it means to be a REAL quarterback.
- For interception or touchdown, for bad or for good, Favre was out there, giving it all he's got. Now he's giving it all he's got... as a play-by-play announcer.
- This weekend, the Southern Miss broadcast booth featured a TRULY special guest: none other than Brett Favre.
- After his retirement, Brett Favre returns to the football stadium as... a broadcaster?!?!? This week's sign of the Apocalypse...
- From field vision to television: Brett Favre literally hangs up his cleats and dusts off a mic, literally.
- Paging Bob Costas... the ol' Gunslinger is gunning for YOUR job. Better step up your game!
- The Gunslinger on a television show? Well, you might expect him to star in a Western, but he's actually going to be the star in a Southern [Miss broadcast booth].
- He's like a kid up there.
- Brett Favre, from a birds-eye view: "it sure does look different from up here." The Falcons, from a Falcon's-eye view: Darn! We should have kept Favre!" Well, 20 years later, guess who has to eat crow.
- Just hasn't been the same without him.
- It just hasn't been the same without Brett Favre.
- Hey, TV viewers: are you ready for what Favre's throwing? If so, you'd better make sure you're getting good "reception."
- From signal-caller to television signal caller, Brett Favre has done it all.
- Television networks ought to be second nature for Brett Favre. He's used to getting it done over the air.
- Favre's already a pro in the TV business! Looks like he's already mastered the "soft handoff."
- Gee whiz.
- It seems that, having sat through his share of TV timeouts, Favre's taking time out for TV.
- One thing you know for sure when Favre's in the booth: even when the signal's jumbled, the ball's never fumbled.
- I bet he turned down the makeup artist. "A little touch-up? No thank you... nothing but touchdowns for me."
- How'd CSS stumble upon a talent like Favre? I guess they had to pluck him off the airwave-er wire...
- From finger tape to videotape, the ol' Gunslinger is ready for everything.
- Brett Favre is on television as a sports analyst.
- It just... you know, it just hasn't been the same without the ol' Gunslinger.
