Chris Johnson Status: Javon Ringer Splits Carries With C2J

(Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images) Getty ImagesIt is safe to say that Javon Ringer will be the hot waiver wire pickup in fantasy football in leagues where he was not already handcuffing Johnson. It is not a guaranteed winner of a claim, but if you are desperate for some running back depth, Ringer is a decent add at this point. Johnson has shown no signs of emerging from his struggles, so if that continues, there is nothing to stop Ringer from continuing to get a decent number of carries. Double digit carries makes him a valuable commodity on the waiver wire.

It would seem more than a little counter-intuitive for Ringer to supplant Johnson as the primary ball carrier for the Titans, but that could be what we’re seeing. Johnson has rushed for more than 4,500 yards over the past three seasons, but had just 268 yards heading into Sunday’s game. Even more concerning is the fact that he’s averaging just 2.9 yards per carry and scored only one touchdown.
Johnson, who had 503 receiving yards two years ago when he also rushed for more than 2,000 yards, has just 143 receiving yards this year.

Running back Joseph Addai sat out Wednesday and Thursday’s practices, but returned to the field on Friday and is one of 14 Indianapolis Colts players who are listed as “Questionable” for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
After missing the Colts’ Week 6 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals with a hamstring injury, Addai suffered a new hamstring injury during the team’s 62-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night. If Addai is unable to play, 2011 fourth-round pick Delone Carter and 2009 first-round pick Donald Brown would share the rushing duties on Sunday.

“They kind of gave me the day off (Wednesday) just so I wouldn’t take a bunch of snaps and pound it, but I didn’t want them to give me the day off,” Hasselbeck said via Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean. “But when you are as old as I am, 36, they give you a day off when you sneeze too much.”
After a hot start to his stint with the Titans, Hasselbeck has cooled off the last two weeks, completing just 54.4 percent of his last 79 pass attempts for 366 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions as the Titans have lost back-to-back games to even their record at 3-3 heading into Sunday’s game against the Colts, who have the NFL’s 23rd-ranked pass defense.
