The Tennessee Titans handled their business Sunday afternoon with relative ease as they defeated the Indianapolis Colts 27-10. However, in rolling to victory, the Titans might have created a bit of a running back controversy. Over the course of four quarters, normal starting running back Chris Johnson and backup Javon Ringer each had 14 carries. Ringer also had six pass targets (five receptions) while Johnson had five pass targets (three receptions). Ringer finished with 102 combined yards, while Johnson finished with 51 total yards.

Head coach Mike Munchak was asked about the split in carries moving forward and he said it would depend on the flow of each game moving forward. Most fantasy football veterans likely know that is code for running back by committee. Some describe it as "going with the hot hand" but at the end of the day, this muddies the value of both Chris Johnson and Javon Ringer.
It is safe to say that Javon Ringer will be the hot waiver wire pickup in fantasy football in leagues where he was not already handcuffing Johnson. It is not a guaranteed winner of a claim, but if you are desperate for some running back depth, Ringer is a decent add at this point. Johnson has shown no signs of emerging from his struggles, so if that continues, there is nothing to stop Ringer from continuing to get a decent number of carries. Double digit carries makes him a valuable commodity on the waiver wire.
