Broncos Vs. Jets: Von Miller Leads Strong Defensive Effort In Denver Win

Yes, Tim Tebow’s scramble into the end zone gave the Denver Broncos a 17-13 win over the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football. And yes, Tebow did engineer the 95-yard drive late in the fourth quarter to set that touchdown up. But despite his heroics, Denver likely wouldn’t have even been in position to win without a huge effort from its defense.

It wasn’t as though the Denver defense was out of this world or facing a high-powered offense. The Jets’ struggles this year have been well documented, and Denver capitalized on them. With the Broncos’ offense sputtering in the second half, it was the defense that picked up the slack, intercepting Mark Sanchez and returning it 26 yards for the touchdown. The pick-six tied the game heading into the fourth quarter, and gave Denver life.

In the end, Tebow did score the game-winning touchdown with an outstanding individual effort. But don’t forget Von Miller’s 10 tackles, including 1.5 sacks and three tackles for a loss. And don’t forget it was the other side of the ball that kept Denver hanging around throughout, allowing Tebow to cap the Thursday night game with an exclamation point for Denver fans.
