The Kyle Orton era is officially over in Denver. The Broncos waived Orton on Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.Orton now hits the waiver wire where every team will have an opportunity to claim him (and his contract).
Kyle Orton Waived By Denver Broncos
The Broncos have officially moved on from the Kyle Orton era by deciding to waive the quarterback on Tuesday.
The Broncos have clearly moved on from Orton so this isn't a major surprise. Tim Tebow has taken the reins as the starting quarterback leading the team to a 4-1 record when he's behind center and Orton, who was originally the starter, didn't fit into the plans moving forward.
Orton arrived in Denver for the 2009 season along with Josh McDaniels where he began a two and a half year stint as the team’s primary starter. He put up respectable numbers in his first year completing 62 percent of his passes and throwing 21 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. The Broncos struggled in the 2010 season with just four victories but Orton remained the starter entering the 2011 season despite speculation that the Broncos might trade him.
