On Wednesday afternoon Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey said RB Fred Jackson suffered a leg injury and would miss the Bills Week 12 game against the New York Jets. And later on Wednesday, a report has surfaced that the Bills have instead decided to place Jackson on injured reserve, which ends his season prematurely.
Fred Jackson’s Injury Lands Him On Injured Reserve
The Buffalo News reports a fracture to Jackson’s fibula bone is the reason for the move to injured reserve. This is clearly a major, major blow to a 5-5 Bills team who is still in the thick of the playoff race. Jackson was having a career year averaging 5.5 yards a carry on 934 yards and six touchdowns. He also has 39 receptions for 442 yards.
The Bills also claimed RB Tashard Choice off the waiver wire on Wednesday so he's expected to contribute carries along with C.J Spiller.
The BIlls have lost three in a row and four of their last five so this is about the worst news they could receive. Jackson was among the league’s best running backs through 11 weeks.
