Adrian Peterson Injury: Vikings RB Out For Week 12 Vs. Falcons

The Minnesota Vikings have officially ruled out RB Adrian Peterson for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Peterson was doubtful for most of the week but was officially ruled out just before the team boarded the plane on Saturday.

Peterson suffered a Grade 1 high ankle sprain and ligament damage in his left ankle last weekend when Oakland Raiders safety Michael Huff rolled onto his leg. He spent most of the week in a walking boot, which came off on Thursday. He did not practice at all during the week, making this not much of a surprise.

Without Peterson, second-year player Toby Gerhart is expected to get the start. Lorenzo Booker and Percy Harvin should see the field as well in the starter's absence.

Rookie tight end Kyle Rudolph is also listed as doubtful with a quad injury and is not expected to play.
