Arizona Cardinals running back Beanie Wells was in the midst of a career day. With about ten minutes left in the fourth quarter, St. Louis Rams linebacker Brady Poppinga brought Wells down behind the line of scrimmage. More than tackle him, he stripped the ball, forcing a fumble and seriously injured Wells in the process. Wells left the game, and his status for return is unknown.
The Rams recovered the ball, and scored a touchdown to tie the game on the ensuing possession. When the Cardinals offense returned to the field, Wells finally returned after a few plays. On his first play back in the game, Wells broke away for a 53-yard run that was nearly a touchdown. That run put Wells over 200 rushing yards for the day. He has 207 yards on 22 carries, including that 53-yard run and a 71-yard run earlier in the game. If the Cardinals win this game, many will look at Wells’ 53-yard scamper as a turning point.

The experts around the Internet seem just as confused as the general population. There are no lines for the game, SB Nation’s own Andrew Sharp is so baffled by the matchup, he wrote this:
Sounds about right. The Cardinals have the slight edge, but the Rams are capable of a big performance. The guys at CBS Sports are just as confused — three of them are picking the Cardinals and two picked the Rams. The same goes for the ESPN bros, five of whom chose the Cardinals to win, the other three chose the Rams, with AccuScore also choosing the Rams. Good luck with this one.

Getty ImagesHowever, after Wednesday’s practice it looks as though Kolb feels well enough to play. Still, Kolb hasn’t been effective much for the Cardinals this season, and it might not provide a huge boost for the team. As a result of this uncertainty, the over/under for this game hasn’t been set yet, either, but it is likely to be low. Neither team has been an offensive powerhouse this season, as both teams are ranked in the bottom five of total offensive yards this season.
