The Miami Dolphins may have won a battle and lost the war on Sunday. Their Week 9 blowout of the Kansas City Chiefs gave them their first win of the season, but it may have come at the cost of a No. 1 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
NFL Scores Week 9, Dolphins Vs. Chiefs: Miami Wins, 31-3, May Be Out Of Andrew Luck Sweepstakes
Miami beat Kansas City for its first win of the 2011 NFL season. But the Dolphins may have lost the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.
Matt Moore and Reggie Bush paced the 'Phins. Moore threw for 244 yards and three touchdowns, while Bush ran for 92 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for another 50 yards. Brandon Marshall also contributed, with eight catches for 106 yards.
But what Miami did, in dominating a suddenly punchless Chiefs squad (Matt Cassel completed just 20 of 39 passes; no Chiefs running back had more than 40 yards), may be bad in the long run. They fell out of a tie for the NFL's worst record with the Indianapolis Colts, and lost (regained?) their footing in a race to the bottom that should have Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck as its ultimate prize.
The win pushes Miami to 1-7 on the season. Kansas City falls to 4-4 with the loss.
