Over the weekend a report came out that the Miami Dolphins planned to fire head coach Tony Sparano at the end of the season. As it turns out, the Dolphins didn't wait until the end of the season -- they fired him on Monday afternoon. Jay Glazer of FOX Sports has the news.

The Dolphins hired Sparano in January 2008 and he immediately had success in turning around the Dolphins from 1-15 the year before he got there and 11-5 in his first season.
From there, it's been inconsistent. Things culminated this year as the Dolphins started the season 0-7 and questions of Sparano's job security started with "when" not "if". Sparano and the Dolphins battled back to win a handful of games in a row after the 0-7 start but many believe even winning out wouldn't have changed his fortunes. The Dolphins lost on Sunday to the Eagles.
The Dolphins job could be attractive across the league if Miami is equipped with a high draft pick to select the quarterback of the future.
