Shahid Khan was officially approved by the other NFL owners earlier in the week to receive ownership of the Jacksonville Jaguars from Wayne Weaver. Shortly after the vote passed, Khan held a short press conference and talked a bit about the team and the process. After the press conference, Khan sat down with some of the various local Jacksonville media that made the trip to Dallas, TX for the vote.
Shahid Khan Compares Rams To Jaguars, Has Comment Stricken From The Record
One of those media members Khan sat down with was Jaguars.com senior editor John Oehser. In the Q&A session, Khan talked a bit about his experience trying to purchase the Rams a few years ago... but then his answer was removed.
In the original Q&A session with Oehser, Khan was asked “When did you know that owning an NFL team was a possibility?”
Here is how Khan replied:
Of course, the Rams experience was a good one. That was last year and that would have happened if Stan hadn’t exercised his right. That would be one example. The Rams experience - not the result, but the process - was a great experience, because you saw behind the curtain. This was a time they were in a flux. They had the first draft pick. So, you saw them dealing with the questions of, ‘Who should they draft? How much money?’ Just like when the Jaguars were making some changes last Tuesday, you’re not making them, but you’re privy to them. So, I saw how some of those decisions got made, so from my viewpoint that was a really, really good experience. It gave me a sense as to what I would do, and in all candor, I think the Jaguars are a far better organization. Compared to the Rams, it’s a far better organization. I think that’s important because there’s less you have to do.
That’s a pretty scathing remark about the Rams and about a club Khan attempted to purchase. A few days later, the question and answer has seemingly been removed entirely from the Q&A article.
