JaMarcus Russell Gets Fired By ‘Life Coach’ He Hired

If you see the name JaMarcus Russell in a headline you know it's probably going to be something embarrassing. The former No. 1 overall pick and arguably the biggest bust in NFL draft history has a new one that, even for Russell, is surprising.

Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reports that Russell’s “Life Coach”, John Lucas, has fired him.

Indeed, someone who was being paid by Russell to turn his life around and help him get back into the NFL has pulled the plug. This would be like hiring a painter to paint your house, and then the painter quitting on you. That’s not the way things usually work.

If anything, it shows Russell's future which is essentially non-existent. Even Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome refused a meeting with Russell. Frankly, I agree with Newsome. I wouldn't want my name associated with Russell in any fashion.

What are the odds Russell gets any sort of shot with another NFL team?

I’d say slim to none.
