Dolphins Aware Of Brandon Marshall Stabbing; NFL Lockout Prohibits Contact

The Miami Dolphins traded for WR Brandon Marshall last year and gave him a new $50 million contract so when the news came down that Marshall was stabbed by his wife, it would be natural for the Dolphins to investigate and try to speak with Marshall lending whatever support they can.

Unfortunately, that can’t communicate with him. Even with an incident like this, the NFL lockout prohibits teams from speaking with players. That’s the gist of the statement Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene released on Saturday morning:

"We are aware of the report. And our thoughts are with Brandon at this time. We will look into the matter. But because we are not allowed to have any contact with any of our players, we will refrain from making any further comment."

Yet another downside to the NFL lockout: the Dolphins $50 million investment is stabbed and they can’t check on him. They can send messages of support but that’s about it.

One caveat is that the team doctor can apparently talk to him, Peter King reports. Although I’m sure there are limits on the amount and type of contact they can have.
