Plaxico Burress Interested In Playing For New York Jets, Houston Texans

Even though the NFL Lockout is still in place and free agency is on hold until a new league year starts, Plaxico Burress, recently released from prison, is already thinking about which teams he would be interested in signing with once things start up again. According to Jane McManus of ESPN New York, Burress recently discussed the New York Jets and the Houston Texans during an interview with the NFL Network.

Both teams offer a good opportunity for him. The Jets have two wide receiver free agents-to-be in Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes, which means one is likely to leave. That would give Burress an opportunity to start opposite the one that does re-sign.

As for the Texans, Burress sees that team on the rise, one that will finally go over the hump and make it into the playoffs. And playing with Andre Johnson, one of the top wide receivers in the league, is also a great opportunity for him.

Burress also spoke on a Philadelphia radio show and expressed interest in catching passes from Michael Vick, who previously served jail time for his illegal dog fighting activities and related charges. Burress said:

“Oh, it would be a dream come true,” he said. “I have a lot of respect for Mike, not just as a quarterback but as a person -- you know what he’s overcome and what he’s went through and just the way he bounced back.

Whether he’s ready to hit the field right away and be in football condition still remains to be seen. But he certainly does appear to want to play for a team that will be in playoff contention right now.
