Braylon Edwards pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated Friday. Edwards was stopped by the police on Sept. 21 for driving with tinted windows, and was found to be driving with a blood alcohol level of .16, twice the legal limit. Via ESPN:
Braylon Edwards Pleads Guilty To DWI, Calls It ‘Fair Conclusion’
"I feel good. I feel like it came to a fair conclusion by the judge and DA," Edwards said. "I'm happy that it's past and now it's just really time to focus on football again."
Edwards will have to pay a $500 fine to close the case without probation or jail time. His driver’s license has been suspended for six months, and he will continue in the NFL alcohol counseling program that he began last November.
Edwards will be a free agent once the NFL lockout finally comes to a conclusion. He has expressed interest in returning with the Jets next season, though with Santonio Holmes on the auction block as well, the Jets may not be able to afford both big-name receivers.
