Plaxico Burress Back To New York Giants? It’s Possible

Free agent WR Plaxico Burress and the New York Giants spent a good portion of the day talking, possibly about a comeback to Big Blue. There was never any major ill-will between the Giants and Burress, even after he left the team for a prison stint two years ago, but it's hard to imagine Burrress returning.

Still, Burress going back to New York is not out of the question. There are a few things to keep in mind with this visit.

First, remember that he didn't leave New York on bad terms with his teammates, like Tiki Barber did. (Goes to show you that, in the NFL, it's better to literally shoot yourself in the leg than criticize your teammates.) He can still be accepted by the Giants players and fans. Catching the winning pass in the Super Bowl does that sort of thing for you.

Second, can the Giants even have him in for a visit? This is a unique year and it’s unclear if, during this week of pre-free agency, teams can have players in for a visit. Some think players can’t visit teams until Friday at 6:00 p.m. (ET) when full free agency opens.

Third, the Giants first want to see where he’s at mentally, according to Adam Schefter, before moving on with this discussion.

Fourth, Eli Manning had good things to say about Burress a few weeks ago when he was released from prison so don't discount his opinion in this as well.

So Plaxico back to New York? It’s possible.
