Plaxico Burress Free Agency Rumors Pointing To Giants, Steelers

Who would've thought that Plaxico Burress' next team could be one of his former teams. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that it's "likely" that Burress signs with either the Pittsburgh Steelers, his first NFL team, or the New York Giants, his second NFL team.

According to Mort’s report, Burress could be looking at a $10 million deal over two years.

Sources believe only a productive, fence-mending meeting between Burress and Coughlin stands between the wide receiver rejoining the Giants and making more than $10 million over two years.

However, Tomlin expects to make his own strong sales pitch for Burress to join the Steelers, who made him a first-round draft choice out of Michigan State in 2000, sources added.

I think it says a lot about a player when his two former teams want him back despite spending time in jail.

All this is contingent on Burress being in football-shape after a two-year prison sentence. With the interest being shown in him, I suspect his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has told everyone he's ready to roll.

Burress can't meet in-person with both head coaches until Friday at 6:00 p.m. (ET) when free agency officially starts but it sounds like one of his former teams will be his future team.
