Kevin Kolb Traded To Cardinals, Gets New $63 Million Contract, According To Reports

The Philadelphia Eagles agreed on terms of a trade with the Arizona Cardinals that will send QB Kevin Kolb to Arizona in exchange for CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second round pick. According to Adam Caplan of FOX Sports, Kolb will also be getting a new deal.

The details: It's a five-year extension worth $63 million and $20 million guaranteed. That's about the going rate for a quarterback like Kolb as QB Matt Cassel received a reported six-year, $63 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs as a former backup two years ago.

The contract can’t become official until Friday night when teams are permitted to sign players.

Kolb more than likely immediately becomes the starting quarterback for the Cardinals, despite only about six of time to prepare for the regular season opener. He has arguably the best receiver in the league -- WR Larry Fitzgerald -- on his side so there are weapons in place for him to succeed.

The Cardinals are only a couple of years removed from their Super Bowl run so with a competent quarterback I think this once again puts them in the conversation for division champs in the NFC West.
