Falcons Vs. Jaguars: Game Time, TV Schedules, Position Battles and More
Matt Ryan and the Falcons will travel south to take on the Maurice Jones-Drew-less Jaguars on Friday night in the second week of the NFL preseason.
Matt Ryan and the Falcons will make the short trip south to Jacksonville to face the Jaguars as part of week two of the NFL's preseason schedule. The Falcons are coming off a 28-23 loss to the Dolphins, even though the team's starters got up to a 17-0 lead before they came out of the game. Matt Ryan and company will be in the game for a longer period of time on Friday and will attempt to show off their talented group of receivers consisting of Roddy White and Julio Jones. It's possible that free agent acquisition, defensive end Ray Edwards, who returned to practice this week, may make his debut on the Falcons defensive line after sitting out of the first game. The former Vikings defensive end signed a five-year, $30 million contract right before training camp began.
At quarterback, the Jaguars will be starting David Garrard instead of rookie Blaine Gabbert, who started last week due to Garrard's sore back. However, Gabbert will continue to push to take the starting job by the time the season rolls around. Unfortunately, neither quarterback will have the team's starting running back, Maurice Jones-Drew, who is still recovering from offseason knee surgery, in the backfield. On the other side of the ball, the defense will attempt to rebound from last week's 47-12 loss to the Patriots in which they gave up 476 yards. That's not what fans wanted to see after they signed guys like Paul Posluszny, Clint Session, Dawan Landry and Matt Roth to help avoid finding themselves with one of the worst defenses in the league like they did in 2010.
