Adrian Wilson Injury: Cardinals Safety To Have MRI On Elbow, According To Report

Arizona Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson left practice with an elbow injury on Saturday. Wilson is scheduled to have an MRI, but the Cardinals fear he may have torn a muscle.

Training camp is less than a week old, but the Arizona Cardinals are already dealing with what could be a serious injury to a player expected to be a major contributor on the defensive side of the ball this season. According to a report, safety Adrian Wilson is headed for an MRI on his elbow after leaving practice with an injury on Saturday. Wilson played through pain in 2010, the product of a torn abductor, but if the Cardinals fears are confirmed by an MRI, he may not be playing at all this season.

The best and worst case scenarios were laid out by Kent Somers, of the Arizona Republic.

Cardinals won’t know about Wilsons injury until tonight, maybe Sunday. Fear prob is torn muscle, hope is that he can play soon

A torn muscle could keep Wilson out for the majority of the season, if not the whole year, while a simple strain may allow him to return sooner. Somers also noted that the Cardinals signed safety Matt Ware on Saturday, perhaps as a backup plan if Wilson is out for an extended period of time.
