Tom Brady is having one of the best nights by a quarterback in NFL history. And an NFL record-tying 99-yard touchdown pass to Wes Welker just made it better.
Patriots Vs. Dolphins Score: Tom Brady, Wes Welker Tie NFL Record With 99-Yard Touchdown Pass
After New England’s defense pitched a goal line stand against the Miami Dolphins, Brady led the Patriots onto the field to start a possession on their own 1. On that series’ first play, Brady rifled a throw to Welker, who beat a cornerback and took the pass 99 yards for a touchdown.
The 99-yard reception tied an NFL record that cannot be topped under current NFL rules. It’s the 12th 99-yard pass play in NFL history, and the first since Gus Frerotte hooked up with Bernard Berrian for a 99-yard touchdown in 2008.
The pass made the score 38-17 in New England’s favor; Miami has since gotten a touchdown back, and trails 38-24.
