NFL Picks Week 2: Bears Vs. Saints

The Chicago Bears take on the Saints in New Orleans on Sunday. Despite being the only team with a tick in the “win” column, Chicago is unanimously slated to lose to Drew Brees and co.

NFL Experts were apparently unfazed by the Chicago Bears' 30-12 disassembling of the Atlanta Falcons last week. The Bears' defensive front punished Matt Ryan throughout the game, recording five sacks and forcing a forced fumble returned for touchdown by Brian Urlacher. Still, there was no love for the Bears in their matchup against the New Orleans Saints who, mind you, lost last week to the Green Bay Packers.

SB Nation's Andrew Sharp joined the clamor, taking the Saints and the 7.5-point spread in New Orleans, apparently still unimpressed by Jay Cutler for some reason (okay, there's a reason). The Saints fell a yard short against a Super Bowl favorite, so naturally there is reason for optimism.

ESPN’s galley of experts picked unanimously against the Bears. Accuscore gave Chicago somewhat of a fighting chance, predicting a final score of 27.2-23.9, which would at least beat the spread.

CBSSports.com threw their full support behind the home team as well taking the Saints across the board. Pete Prisco is banking on the Saints having fixed their defense with 10 days rest.

But this week it’s a South team playing at home, one that is wounded and rested. That’s a bad combination. The Saints have had 10 days to fix a defense that was horrible at Green Bay. I think they do enough to get their first victory of the season.

Peter King provides the final dagger, taking the Saints (though not to cover) while acknowledging Chicago’s pass rush and the absence of Marques Colston from the passing game.

So there you have it, the Chicago Bears are destined to go down in fiery, fiery ball in New Orleans. Drew Brees and co. were sharp last week in a back-and-forth battle against the reigning Super Bowl champs but be wary of a tenacious Bears front seven going up against an offensive line that underperformed.
