Chiefs Vs. Lions: Game Time, TV Schedule, Announcers And More

The Kansas City Chiefs head to Detroit to face the Lions in Week 2 in a matchup of cross-conference teams seemingly headed in opposite directions early in the season.

The Detroit Lions and the Kansas City Chiefs face off Sunday in Detroit. Both teams find themselves in unfamiliar waters heading into Week 2, with the Chiefs trying to regroup from a painful loss to the Buffalo Bills and the Lions actually looking like a real football team in an impressive win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Chiefs loss on Sunday was shocking, especially considering the promise the team showed last season in making the playoffs. Jamaal Charles failed to produce much on the ground as the Kansas City offense threw the ball to try and catch up. Quarterback Matt Cassel couldn't produce, however, gaining just 119 yards on 36 pass attempts against what was one of the league's worst pass defenses last season. Meanwhile the defense gave up 163 yards on the ground, including 112 yards to Fred Jackson.

The Lions somehow managed to look vaguely impressive during their win over the Bucs. Quarterback Matthew Stafford averaged a solid 9.2 yards per pass en route to three touchdowns and an interception, in part due to a ground game behind Jahvid Best that did just enough to keep the defense honest. A stout defensive front led by defensive tackle Ndamakong Suh controlled the line of scrimmage, holding the Bucs to just 56 yards rushing and forcing Josh Freeman to throw 43 times.
