NFL Picks Week 3: Jaguars Vs. Panthers

The Jacksonville Jaguars head to Carolina to take on Cam Newton and the Panthers this weekend. Though Vegas says this game should be close, experts disagree vehemently.

The Carolina Panthers are technically just 3.5-point favorites over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Understandable considering that both teams have struggled this season, the Jags at 1-1, the Panthers at 0-2 overall. According to picks around the internet, however, the Jaguars have no shot.

SB Nation’s own Andrew Sharp likes the Panthers and the points. He also likes Cam Newton.

Cam Newton has become the best selling point for NFL Sunday Ticket since Chris Johnson, only he gets the ball on every single play, so it’s even better.

The Panthers are also among the 10 unanimous winners picked by ESPN’s panel of experts. Accuscore took the points as well, predicting a four-point victory.

CBSSports.com joined in giving the Jaguars zero chance, with every one of their five experts siding with Carolina. Pete Prisco likes Cam Newton to outperform fellow rookie Blaine Gabbert, but barely, predicting a 21-20 final score.

Peter King puts the final nail in the Jags’ coffin, and does so with malice, predicting a 23-point win for Carolina. According to King, Gabbert simply does not have enough reliable receiver support to keep up with Newton on Sunday.

Though Vegas says this game could be close, Jacksonville’s relative inexperience at quarterback (you know, because Newton is a seasoned veteran) should be the difference according to experts. If the internet is any indication, you should expect Carolina to roll on Sunday.
