NFL Picks Week 3: Jets Vs. Raiders

The Oakland Raiders open their home schedule Sunday against the New York Jets. They may be one of the trendiest upset picks in the league, too.

The New York Jets are 3.5-point favorites over the Oakland Raiders in Oakland this weekend. Understandable, with the Raiders coming off a close loss to the Buffalo Bills and the Jets sitting at 2-0 overall. Survey NFL experts, however, and no clear favorite emerges.

Among ESPN’s human experts, one half took the Jets while the other sided with the Raiders. Accuscore predicts that the Jets will prevail, but that the Raiders will just beat the spread in a three-point loss. CBSSports’ panel were much more certain of the upset, with four out of five experts taking Oakland.

SB Nation's Andrew Sharp has a gut feeling about the Raiders, with Darren McFadden being the difference. Peter King has the same gut feeling, taking the Raiders by six as the team takes its anger out on the NFL for scheduling their season opener on Monday night before they headed out to Buffalo in Week 2. Pete Prisco sees the game coming down to one point, with the Raiders getting the edge in the quarterback battle between Jason Campbell and Mark Sanchez.

With 11 expert votes for the Raiders to just seven for the favored Jets, this could be the trendiest upset pick of the week. At a minimum, expect this to be one of the most physical games of the week in front of a jazzed up Raiders crowd.
