Texans Vs. Saints: Game Time, TV Schedule, Announcers And More

The Houston Texans can make history with a win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

The Houston Texans are on the verge of doing something special. In the nine-year history of the franchise the team has never made the playoffs, much less started a season with a 3-0 record. They have an opportunity to do just that on Sunday. Unfortunately they'll have to do it on the road against the New Orleans Saints who, despite a 1-1 record, are still considered by many to be Super Bowl contenders.

The Saints enter as clear favorites, and after their handling of the Chicago Bears last week there should be no surprise as to why. After struggling to get after Aaron Rodgers in the season opener, the Saints defense hounded Jay Cutler to the tune of six sacks led by safety Roman Harper and defensive end Junior Galette with two apiece. Drew Brees was as efficient as always, even without Marques Colston in the lineup. Instead he found Jimmy Graham (six catches) and Darren Sproles (eight) early and often, and Devery Henderson when he needed a big play.

The Texans will try to negate the Saints pass rush with a strong run game behind Arian Foster (if healthy) and Ben Tate. The latter has been very effective as a rookie, averaging 4.7 yards per carry on 47 rushing attempts. That, and Houston's ability to control time of possession (they rank first in the league at 35 minutes per game) should keep this game close. The Texans currently lead the league in pass defense giving up just 162.5 yards per game as well, though obviously that will be tested in a big way against the Saints.
