Patriots Vs. Bills: Buffalo Improves To 3-0 With Upset Over New England

After a 4-12 season in 2010, the Buffalo Bills, one might expect, would struggle in 2011. But it's been the complete opposite so far. The Bills pulled off the top early upset of the season with a 34-31 victory over the New England Patriots.

This game could have been a wake-up call to the Bills--that they have improved, but they aren't there yet. Tom Brady had been throwing wild the previous weeks, a clear advantage over the Bills' Ryan Fitzpatrick. Not so fast, however. Brady did throw and throw some more, but four of those passes wound up in the hands of Buffalo defenders, including an interception return by Drayton Florence.

Fitzpatrick, meanwhile, finished the game with 369 yards, two touchdowns and only two interceptions. He and running back Fred Jackson connected on a short pass that went for 38-yards and looked like a touchdown. However, the replay booth reviewed the play and overturned it. Unable to put the ball in the end zone, the Bill turned to Rian Lindell, who hit the game-winning 28-yard field goal as time expired.

Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker set a New England record with 16 receptions. He finished with 217 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bills (3-0) take their league-leading offense (113 points) on the road to Cincinnati. The Patriots (2-1) will visit the Black Hole of Oakland.
