One of the highlights (if there were any) of the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins Monday Night Football game was Cowboys center Phil Costa walking away with an illegal snap and three bad snaps to Romo. It was clear the Cowboys quarterback was frustrated with what was going on.
Tony Romo Indicates Redskins Violated Snap Count Rules
At the time, we chalked it up to some miscommunication but, apparently, there’s more to the story. Romo said after the game that the Redskins were yelling the Cowboys’ snap count.
“Costa said the D-line kept calling out the snap count. We’ll get that worked out.,” Romo said. “We’ll tell the league and see if that’s something that can be fixed because you’re not supposed to be able to do that. So we’ll see.”
Why is this an issue?
Because it's illegal. The Redskins aren't supposed to be doing that and should have been penalized for it if they were doing it. It should have been a 15-yard penalty if indeed they were doing that. The Redskins employ a former Cowboys defensive lineman in Stephen Bowen so that may have helped Washington.
Luckily for Dallas, they won the game so this ultimately doesn’t matter.
