Sean Payton signed a three-year extension as head coach of the Saints, keeping him in New Orleans through 2015. He helped lead the Saints to a Super Bowl victory in 2009 behind a potent offense led by quarterback Drew Brees. The team hopes to reenter the championship conversation this season after falling in the wild-card round of the 2010 NFL Playoffs to what should have been an out-classed Seattle Seahawks team.
Sean Payton Inks Three-Year Extension With Saints
New Orleans keeps coach Sean Payton on board through 2015.
“I am very pleased to announce this contract extension today for Sean that will run through the 2015 season,” said Saints owner Tom Benson in a statement.
“Our goal is to continue to build a tradition of winning here in New Orleans and Sean represents that tradition.”
Next up for the Saints will be getting Brees inked up for the forseeable future. He is in the last season of his six-year contract. Bringing Payton back on board should go a long way towards keeping Brees in New Orleans.
