VIDEO: Vernon Davis Scores First Touchdown For 49ers Vs. Saints

The San Francisco 49ers were thought by many to have the plodding, conservative offense in this Saturday's NFC Divisonal Round playoff game against the New Orleans Saints. After Alex Smith's long-distance hook-up with Vernon Davis to give the Niners a 7-0 lead, though, that perception may have to be revisited.

Smith found Davis on a crossing route downfield, and Davis benefited from some defensive misconduct in getting free and scoring from — of course — 49 yards out.

The Niners' scoring drive was just two plays long, but covered 54 yards. And after two drives for both teams, not only does San Francisco have more yardage, but Smith has more passing yards than Drew Brees, who only set the NFL record for passing yards in a season in 2011.

For more on the 49ers, check out Niners Nation and SB Nation Bay Area, and for the Saints check out Canal Street Chronicles. Here’s a look at the complete 2012 NFL playoffs schedule.
