Jeff Fisher Introduced As Rams Head Coach At Press Conference

The St. Louis Rams officially introduced Jeff Fisher as their next head coach at a Tuesday afternoon press conference. Fisher and team owner Stan Kroenke addressed the media about the new era in St. Louis.

The initial search for Fisher and then finally landing him lasted several weeks but Fisher says his decision was simple. He wanted a good quarterback and a good owner, which he says he has in St. Louis (and the cap space and No. 2 pick probably didn’t hurt either). Fisher said the Rams are equipped to turn it around quickly, which is possible considering a team goes from worst-to-first almost every year.

Among the other highlights of what Fisher had to say:

  • The final two teams in the hunt for Fisher were the Rams and Dolphins but Fisher said it wasn't true that Miami was his first choice.
  • He did not talk about his role in the personnel department as the Rams are still searching for a GM. He said that will be figured out when the new GM is hired.
  • He confirmed that Gregg Williams is leaving the Saints and will be the Rams defensive coordinator.

Fisher’s contract will reportedly pay him $35 million over five years.
