Ravens Vs. Patriots, 2012 AFC Championship Game: New England Goes Three-And-Out Early

The Patriots' unheralded defense did its job against the Ravens on the first drive of the 2012 AFC Championship Game. But Baltimore's better-regarded defense shut down the Patriots on their first offensive drive of the day, too.

After Tom Brady threw out to Danny Woodhead for a seven-yard gain on the first play of the game, Brady misfired on the next two throws, forcing the Patriots to punt after a three-and-out. The third-down throw by Brady came after he had to do some scrambling in the pocket while feeling pressure.

Patriots punter Zoltan Mesko had a chance to bury the Ravens deep in their own territory on the punt, but instead kicked it into the end zone for a touchback.
