Andy Reid Will Return As Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach In 2012

Andy Reid will reportedly be back for a 14th season as the Philadelphia Eagles head coach, according to Eagles Insider. The move is both surprising and predictable. It's surprising mainly because the Eagles came into the season considered the near universal favorite to win the Super Bowl, but missed the playoffs after finishing 8-8.

The fact that an 8-8 record represents just the fourth time the Eagles have failed to finish with a winning record under Reid at least partially explains while he’ll be back. When Reid took over the Eagles in 1999, they were one of the worst franchises in the NFL. Since then, he has helped transform them into a model team that is able to compete every year.

Although Reid has never managed to win the Super Bowl and has only gotten there once, he has gone 10-9 in the playoffs and made the post-season in 9 of 13 seasons. His career record stands at 126-81-1, a winning percentage of .605. That winning percentage is the 11th best in NFL history among coaches with at least 100 games of head coaching experience.
