The Rams have reportedly given the Patriots permission to speak with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels about a role in New England.
Josh McDaniels Will Work With Patriots During Playoffs
The Patriots lost current offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien to the Penn State head coaching job but he will remain in his role with the Patriots during the playoffs.
The fact McDaniels is going to be working with the team during the playoffs is a little unique (but not illegal, according to the NFL). He’ll be labeled an offensive assistant in that time.

The Patriots recently offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien to the head coaching job at Penn State. McDaniels was the offensive coordinator in New England before leaving to take the head coaching job in Denver before the 2009 season.
